PETRA : A Programmable Optimisation Engine and Toolbox for Personnel Rostering Applications

چکیده
This paper presents a general optimisation-based rostering engine developed by the University of Auckland. This engine is designed to solve a wide range of personnel scheduling (staff rostering) problems. The engine is currently being used to roster over 700 staff at an Australian call centre and also for the rostering of 50 immigration staff at Auckland International Airport. It is being trialed for use at several nurse rostering sites.

Case-based reasoning in personnel rostering
In this thesis a novel Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) system called CABAROST (CAsedBAsed ROSTering) for a complex, real-world, personnel rostering problem is presented. CBR is an artificial intelligence paradigm which attempts to solve new problems using information about the solution to previously encountered problems. CBR is used to capture and store examples of expert rostering behaviour which a...
متن کاملConstraint Sovling Engine based Nurse rostering with Intelligent Backtracking
Efficient utilization of time and effort is essential in Personnel scheduling problems to evenly balance the workload among the people and attempt to satisfy the personnel preferences. In Constraint Satisfaction Problem based scheduling problems, when a branch of the search fails the backtracking search algorithm back up to the preceding variable and try a different value for it. So here the mo...
متن کاملNurse rostering using fuzzy logic: A case study
In this paper, we used the fuzzy set theory for modeling flexible constraints and uncertain data in nurse scheduling problems and proposed a fuzzy linear model for nurse rostering problems. The developed model can produce rosters that satisfy hospital objectives, ward requirements and staff preferences by satisfying their requests as much as possible. Fuzzy sets are used for modeling demands of...
متن کاملSolving a nurse rostering problem considering nurses preferences by graph theory approach
Nurse Rostering Problem (NRP) or the Nurse Scheduling Problem (NSP) is a complex scheduling problem that affects hospital personnel on a daily basis all over the world and is known to be NP-hard.The problem is to decide which members of a team of nurses should be on duty at any time, during a rostering period of, typically, one month. It is very important to efficiently utilize time and effort, ...
متن کاملDetermining feature weights using a genetic algorithm in a case-based reasoning approach to personnel rostering
Personnel rostering problems are highly constrained resource allocation problems. Human rostering experts have many years of experience in making rostering decisions which reflect their individual goals and objectives. We present a novel method for capturing nurse rostering decisions and adapting them to solve new problems using the Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) paradigm. This method stores exampl...
